I am 15 and i had been looking for a low costing camera which takes reasonably good photos. This camera does the job perfectly. I can see that the price is soo cheap in comparison to any other 10.3 MP camera, this is due to the lack of effect into crafting a beautiful camera. But to be honest all you really need is to take photo and record videos. Furthermore, this camera come with choice of different settings for the type of photo, depending on the weather, or if it is a fast moving image. Face detection is availble on each photo, but it doesn't regester each face that good, in comparison to other, higher priced camera.



Overall, Great Camera for new photographers who are: not to bothered about the look of the camera; want good quality photos; and don't want to waste too much money on somthing they aren't certain that they will use it often.

I love Kodak cameras, this was my third. The only thing i didnt like about this one is the lack of viewfinder. If its really sunny you cant see what you are taking, so its a bit hit and miss. Purchased for a friend who doesn't have a computer and no prior knowledge of Amazon.The camera was mentioned in my weekly email from Amazon. The camera was less expensive than buying direct from Kodak and appeared to be suitable for his needs. I contacted him with the details and he asked if I would order one. I did so and it arrived in time for his two week visit to Scotland. Having taken 189 pictures in the two weeks,mainly views of Scottish lochs and mountains I think we can say he is impressed!! This camera is good value for money. It does what it says on the box 10.3 MP which gives a sharper image than my friend's Samsung. Got this as an easy to carry alternative to my main camera. Advantages are that it is cheap, takes sd cards, uses AA batteries. Disadvantages: doesn't have a view finder and seemingly, unless I can't figure it out, you have to switch on and the pop out lens operates even if you just want to review images.

This camera is a great all rounder. It doesn't take 'professional' quality photos but it's well above your average snapshot camera. I'd put it in the amateur scrapbooker/student artist range.



For those struggling with battery life, I recommend you use only non-rechargerable 'plus' style batteries like 'Duracell Plus'. A little more expensive but they last forever. In 18 months I've only changed them 4 times (excepting the one time I used cheapo batteries and managed to take 3 photos!) and I use this camera every single day, including flash photography.



It's a nice halfway house between having a heavy duty camera (the mp and zooms are really good), the multi-function means it even takes photos in the dim light of a museum etc and the flash is as good as the ones on more expensive cameras I've had. It also takes good quality video and has decent sound. No additional software, easy usb drag & drop uploading and it's lightweight and small enough to fit in your pocket.

I am very very disappointed with this camera, as I thought it would be good value for money. I have bought this camera TWICE from Amazon after the first one would not turn on. I am very careful to look after them and it was never dropped or anything. However, both of them refused to turn on after just a few weeks, despite changing batteries several times to see if it needed new ones. I had faith in Kodak and so swapped the first one for a replacement, but it has happened again, showing that this model or a large batch are faulty. Don't waste your time.

This camera is great for the price and does all that you need for snap shots of days out and the like. What lets it down is the amazingly tedious software that you have to use with it. It is annoying and should be unnecessary however you must use it to transfer the pictures off the camera. It would be much better if you could just access it as regular USB removable storage.



If you think you can tolerate the appalling software then I'd recommend this camera. Sadly it sucks too much to give it the full five stars.

This camera takes very good pictures and is easy to use. However, after about 13 months (just outside of warranty) it seems to fail. Many complaints about this on the web but no way to contact Kodak that I could find.



The problem starts with what looks like short battery life - Kodak rechargeable and non rechargeable, but the life quickly spirals down to a few seconds then nothing at all. The problem seems to be with the camera electronics, as the batteries are all generating good voltage before and after.



If you want a good camera for about a year, this is just for you. If you want something to last, don't go near it.

C813 was my first digital camera. I'd had it a fortnight when I dropped and killed it. I loved it so much that I went without, for a couple of weeks and bought it's twin!

8.2 megapixels is meant to be almost professional standard, which really shows when I manipulate the image on screen or use the 3X optical zoom. I could eulogise about digital cameras in general, but I think that this is a perfect starter camera, easy to use and with a logical program on the computer.

Then when I started taking pictures with it, I was again unimpressed with the quality of the pictures, they were actually crisper, clearer and had better colour balance with my old 3.4 megapixel camera. I have now bought a sony cybershot instead and am much happier with this purchase, the camera's build quality is what I would expect and the picture quality is fantastic.

I purchased this camera after searching a while for one that at least had face detection and I was going to purchase the Lumix FS7 but after reading some reviews on this camera I decided on buying this one.



What I can say it's great the pictures are clear crisp excellent quality and come out fantastic when printing on photo paper max prints 76 × 102 cm (30 × 40 in.). The camera has a face detection of 5 faces max I have had a few issues with it sometimes where it's only seen 1 face in night shots and mistakenly tags a glass as someones face ???? but other than that I have no issues with the picture when it's taken.



It also has 3x Optical zoom which is great along with it's smart capture auto focus feature where it will focus on the far items and if someone steps into the shot it will then focus on them instead for a great picture it also has a 5x digital zoom but I have not used that as optical is better I think. The camera has blur reduction so if the object is moving slightly or your on moving ground it takes great pics on the move. Battery life is amazing it's not one of them cameras that uses 2x AA batteries that only last 1 hr it's lithium and I charged it 1st go for 3hrs till the light stopped blinking. I used it on a night out for about 3hrs in total and it only went down 1/4, the camera is also very very light.



It also comes with 16mb of internal memory at 10mp it only can save 4 pictures I have a 4GB SHDC Memory card and at 10mp it can store 1990 photos perfect I think I'll hardly use that in 1 photo session. With a 4GB card for video recording at 640x480 setting it will record upto 54mins of VGA video with 24fps very good quality too.

i just brought my new kodak Z-980. the colour saturation when taking photos of people is ot good.. i'm not happy with the output, but ok with outside photos including macro , long distance with it's masive 24X zoom. but inside house is not to my desire, it come in more reddish than natural and patched with colours.I have mixed feelings about the Z-980 camera. However, I do not like how its handles skin tones. superzoom camera, but it will not replace a DSLR, but then neither is it the size of a DSLR camera.It does very well with close-up or macro photos.I too am concerned about the fragile quality of the lens when fully extended.

I spent a lot of time reviewing these Bridging/Super-zoom camera's and very nearly opted for the Olympus, but was drawn to the Kodak as my family and I have used their camera's for years and had no complaints. After a bit of a fiasco getting hold of one (not from Amazon I hasten to add) I eventually received mine and really decided to get to grips with it whilst on holiday in France.



I have to say I am extremely impressed - the quality of pictures is superb and the zoom is nothing short of amazing (although quality will suffer if you push it to its extreme). It does everthing I hoped and more.



One thing I would agree with is the lens cover is not great, but a suitable case and care when adding removing should address this minor failing ( I use a Lowepro Cirrus 100 which is nice snug fit). The other thing I should point out is that to maximise the zoom you need to use one of the more manual settings - and these take a little trial and error (but that's the beauty of digital camera's - you just delete and re-take as need be).



Overall well worth the effort - I'm sure that DSLR fans will pick holes, but this camera ticks all boxes for me, and is so easy to use.

For years ive always brought slim/compact cameras that never really did what i wanted them to...But this Does!...Its very simple to use and im not a photographer!Not too heavy for the size and its a shoot n go if you want it to be.But if you fiddle with the dial on top you can have it on all different modes including night/landscape/portrait etc & you can take fantastic close up; crisp clear photos without having to be a pro..The macro mode you use to take photos of flowers is simply breathtaking....Ive never taken such beautiful photos and i didnt know what macro mode was before!If like me you just want to take superior photos without having to really try..this camera is for you...Dont compare it with D/SLR cameras where you have to know about light/lenses etc..Bridge cameras are the perfect solution .....Dont forget this has a whopping 24x Zoom!

Excellent optics, inadequately protected by a lens cap which pops itself off at the slightest excuse. Granted, it can't be allowed to jam the lens when you power-up the camera, but why is there not a filter thread on the outermost lens segment? By not doing this, Kodak are even denying themselves the opportunity to sell accessories. The viewfinder lacks a diopter adjustment. If you buy this camera (and, despite the niggling shortcomings, I *thoroughly* reccomend it), you'll need a bag for it, and you'll also want to replace the cheap-and-cheerful strap.



It would have been nice to be able to re-charge the batteries in-camera (with a less bulky charger), but at least it does take standard AA NiMH's, and doesn't need a 'dock'. Beware of the landscape/portrait switch if you fumble with the camera in the dark.



That said, the camera is easily the best value for money in its class. Kodak realised long ago that they had to play in the digital market to survive, and have consistently produced quality equipment at aggressively competetive prices. The image stabiliser is impressive, I have acceptably sharp pictures (with a slight exposure vignetting) which were taken hand-held on a moving, vibrating vaporeretta at full zoom in bright daylight. It worked quite well at night too (with less pixel 'noise' than I expected), as did the HD movie feature, which most competing brands don't yet have.



The only features this camera lacks are time-lapse stills/movies (which could be done in software, if the lens can be powered-down once it's focussed), and a button to allow the checking of manual focussing by temporarily applying digital zooming. It has simple presets for the novice, and manual settings for the serious amateur, though the aperture range is very limited.

This bought this small camera for my wife and after using it got a 2nd one for myself. It does everything expected of it and although its zoom capability is only 3x its substantial 9 megapixel count means that it is easy cut and paste from the images it produces. I use it to complement an SLR and carry it everywhere I go. I have a 4gb sd card installed so that I can take movie clips as well as stills. A great performer for a very modest outlay.

I am not in to lots of bits and pieces & techno babble to fiddle with and understand. This is very simple to use and easy to understand. If you like all the bells & buttons, this is not for you. If you want a reliable camera, excellent quality photos, with obvious buttons to tell you what to do - then this fits the bill. Only downside could be that it does use a charger only batteries. Saying that, that the charger dock bit inside the camera that broke on the last one we had !

Great little cheap camera, whack in an SD card and your good to go, takes surprisingly decent video with nice sound quality, not a "top-end" camera by far, but i only use it to capture snapshots of nights out.
